Dutis was born in Angola in 1959.
He has always been fascinated by accessories. Already as a child, she made her necklaces, earrings and rings with beads. As a teenager, he cultivated an interest in sewing and crochet. She started by making clothes for dolls and quickly ventured into making some pieces for herself, with the help of her mother.
Professionally, she followed the Health area and became a Nurse. But the bug of sewing, making jewelry, crocheting and later knitting, has always been with her.
On one of the trips he made to Amsterdam, he wanted to buy a Dutch porcelain necklace, but he didn't like the combination of the pieces. So he decided to buy a necklace and a bracelet to dismantle and, to his liking, make a necklace and earrings. Shortly after, on a visit to Murano (Italy), she bought individual pieces of murano glass, instead of buying ready-made necklaces and earrings, and produced her own costume jewellery. From then on, making costume jewelry for her and offering it became frequent. Later, on a humanitarian mission in Guinea-Bissau, he brought African fabrics (capulanas) from that country, just because he liked them and because they reminded him of the people of his homeland (Angola). However, these capulanas became the raw material for her new project “African earrings”.
And that's how he started to produce pieces of jewelry using capulanas, natural stones, cultured pearls, Murano glass, ceramics and crochet.
